IHEEM has pledged its support for ‘the NHS Sustainability Day of Action’ on 28 March (HEJ – January 2012), at which University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the NHS SDU will be encouraging NHS staff to think more about the need for a more sustainable healthcare delivery system and, thereafter, to involve them in ‘green’ initiatives going forward.
IHEEM events/education manager, Siân Barker, explained: “Dedicated volunteers are preparing a comprehensive electronic event pack for the day to be made available in the first week of February via email to all individuals and organisations signed up. The information will also be downloadable from a purpose-built event micro-site, at www.nhssustainabilityday.co.uk “The pack will include suggestions for ways for NHS staff to raise sustainability awareness on the day locally, such as posters, stickers, statistics, and case studies, plus tips on making the day educational, action-packed, and fun.” To pledge your support, or to receive further information, email: sustainabilityday2012@uclh.nhs.uk
