The new Sheikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE has commissioned Berchtold to deliver 108 ceiling mounts, 130 operating room and examination lights, and 13 mobile Operon D 760 and D 850 operating tables with accessories – the company’s largest single order in the past decade.
The 400-bed hospital specialises in oncology, general surgery, cardiology, traumatology, and emergency medicine. The Berchtold equipment was selected based on its reputation for high quality, reliability, durability, and low maintenance, and for its modular design. The ‘package’ includes the Chromophare F 300 treatment and examination light – with highperformance LEDs, for optimal lighting with minimal reflection and shadow, ‘ideal colour reproduction’, and low power consumption, and the small Chromophare D 300 therapy and examination light (see photo), which can be ceiling, wall, or mobile floor standmounted. Operating rooms will be equipped with halogen lights with an 80,000 to 160,000 lux light intensity. Both the Chromophare D 300 examination lights and the surgical lights incorporate ‘BRITe’ (Berchtold Reflective Illumination Technology), said to ‘reflect unwanted warm infrared radiation precisely back onto the filament’.
