IHEEM is seeking candidates to chair its Ventilation Technology Platform, Advisory Group for Architecture and Design of the Built Environment, and Advisory Group for Specialist Engineering.
The Institute now has nine Technical Platforms (TPs) and Advisory Groups (AGs), all governed by the Technology Platform Committee, covering the following disciplines: Technical Platforms:
• Decontamination
• Electrical
• Medical gases
• Ventilation
• Water
Advisory Groups:
• Architecture and design of the built environment
• Medical devices
• Specialist engineering
• Resilience and Sustainability
The aim of the Technical Platforms (TPs) and Advisory Groups (AGs) is to provide information and guidance for members and non-members, and to advise on matters of special interest. The TPs and AGs also provide comment on HTMs, HBNs, CFPPs, and other Department of Health and Devolved Authority guidance, take part in BSI Committees and All-Party Parliamentary discussion groups, and advise the Institute’s Council. Electrical Technical Platform (ETP), chairman, Mark Richards, recently attended an All-Party Parliamentary Group on Metal Theft (see HEJ – March 2012), at which the Energy Networks Association was also present, spearheading the campaign for a change in the law on scrap metal dealing to help address the growing problem of metal theft. IHEEM administration officer, Danielle Preston, said of the Technical Platforms’ wider role: “We also receive a wide range of queries, ranging from requests for help with fitting solar panels, to guidance for dentists on decontamination.
