Mechline will show its Waste20 food waste digester, which it says can digest up to 180 kg of soft food waste in just 24 hours, ‘leaving nothing but grey water that is safe for the building’s drains’.
The system uses a patented bio-fluid formulation of microorganisms to digest the food waste, leaving no solids to manage. The bio-fluid also starts the breakdown of fats, oils, and grease (FOGs), ‘so there is less chance of blockages down the drain’. The company said: “A sustainable food waste solution reduces the need to collect food waste and send it to landfill, contributing to lower carbon emissions and food waste disposal costs. The technology saves energy and resources, and ‘future proofs’ against disposal cost increases. It also simplifies waste stream separation, improving on recycling, for instance. It is ideal for healthcare facilities seeking a user-friendly sustainable food waste solution for disposing of soft, organic waste with little impact on the environment.”
