A facility said to be the UK’s first dedicated bariatric clinic (the reception area is pictured above), has opened in the grounds of BMI’s The Clementine Churchill Hospital in Harrow.
Designed and opened by weight loss surgery group, Streamline Surgical, the Sudbury Clinic has been established by leading UK consultant bariatric surgeons, Shaw Somers, Guy Slater, and Chris Pring, to improve bariatric patients’ experience, ‘both physically and psychologically’, during pre- and postoperative care. Specialist features within the new facility include larger doorways and sofas, and examination beds ‘subtly designed to meet the needs of bariatric patients while creating a homely, inviting interior’. The waiting room seats are raised four inches higher off the ground, and can support up to 50 stone, while the clinic’s weighing scales measure up to 80 stone.
