Alarm Radio Monitoring (ARM) says that, while, ‘traditionally’, any failure of a hardwired nurse call system has meant ‘lengthy delays and expensive closures of wards while replacement cables are run’, with its new HTM 08-03 compliant wireless units, a new/replacement system can be easily installed ‘with the minimum of disruption and cost’.
Call points designed to meet Department of Health standards, and for applications ranging from cardiac care units to general wards, incorporate antimicrobial additives, while the patient handset is sealed to IP67 for easy cleaning between patients. The handset has both a ‘Call Reassurance’ LED, and a light-sensitive backlight, which automatically illuminates in low light, ensuring that patients can locate it in the dark. Another version comes with an integral light switch, with the option for the call point to be powered from the mains.
