New for 2012, Douglas Delabie’s singlelever Bioclip thermostatic mixer has been specifically designed ‘to meet two very important needs – hygiene and safety’.
The company explained: “Mixers are in constant contact with microbes. Contamination by bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa occurs inside the spout, and around the outlet, where water and oxygen are readily available. Bioclip mixers can easily be removed for cleaning to combat contamination. “Managing the risk of Legionella colonies developing requires hot water production and distribution at high temperatures,” the company added. “However, the associated scalding risk increases considerably, especially where patients have reduced sensitivity, or slower reflexes. Our single-lever mixer opens and closes with cold water drawn from the system, with no hot water introduced initially. Fitted with a thermostatic cartridge, the mixer ensures stable temperatures regardless of pressure or flow rate variations. A maximum temperature limiter prevents any risk of scalding, while the thermostatic mixer’s design sees hot water shut off instantly if the cold water fails.”
