Developer Oakapple Primary Care has been granted planning permission to build the long awaited Kew health centre in Southport. A site for the new £1.5 million health centre, which will also incorporate a new dental surgery and other health services, has already been earmarked on Town Lane, close to Southport District Hospital.
Dr Obuchowicz commented: “Oakapple says it hopes to start work soon and we cannot wait to move to our new home – everyone in the surgery will be absolutely delighted. Our patient list is growing and the new centre will allow us to expand the practice and also widen the range of services we offer.”
The new centre, designed by Oakapple Primary Care, will be a striking contemporary single storey building, finished mainly in white render and set within a parkland landscape. David Ratcliffe, managing director of Oakapple Primary Care said: “I am absolutely delighted the scheme has won the support of the local community and feel confident it will become a landmark building serving the health needs of local people for many years to come.”
The company was invited to bid for the project last summer as a result of the reputation it gained developing new health centres in nearby Cheshire. It is also providing the funding for the project under the Government’s NHS partnership arrangements with the private sector.
