Varied global content for 2013 IFHE Digest

Members of the many national IFHEaffiliated healthcare estates and facilities organisations in Europe, the US, Canada, Australasia, Asia, and the Far East, should soon be able to access a full online version of the 2013 IFHE Digest on their own organisations’ websites, while printed copies have already been widely disseminated.

Published on the IFHE’s behalf by Step Communications, which also produces and publishes HEJ, the 2013 Digest features 19 articles contributed by estates and facilities professionals, architects, sustainable development specialists, healthcare researchers, and master planners worldwide. Featured are a wealth of different topics – ranging from ‘Planning today’s estate to meet tomorrow’s needs’, and ‘Creating a dignified space for addiction’, to engineering-based features on subjects including ‘The benefits of tracking oxygen volume in pipelines’; ‘The IP advantage in two-way communication’, and ‘Integrated technology in the hospital environment’. Other articles this year consider topics as diverse as the growing use of service robots for key estates and facilities functions; the transformational potential of major refurbishment, and ‘a look at some of the options that could be adopted on a city-wide basis if wellness were to be truly integrated into the fabric of our cities in the future’. Andy Wavell, IHEEM’s IFHE representative, said: “It is now time to commence work on the next IFHE Digest, due to be issued at the end of 2013. The help of members of all IFHE-affiliated healthcare estates and facilities organisations is sought in producing this next edition. There is a particular need for more engineering-led articles to reflect a broader spectrum of both engineering and facilities management activities within international healthcare.” Non-IFHE members can purchase single (or multiple) printed copies, priced at £68, e82, or US $109, by telephoning: + 44 (0)1892 779999, or emailing: katephillips@stepcomms.com
