IHEEM and Health Estate Journal will be supporting ‘Design in Mental Health’, a new networking event being held from 14-15 May at Birmingham’s National Motorcycle Museum linking those who design, construct, and manage, mental healthcare facilities, with end-users.
Staged by Step Exhibitions, the Design in Mental Health Network conference will cover themes including ‘Smart design – future-proofing new and existing environments’; ‘Recovery with dignity and safety’; ‘Recovery across borders – part of the community’; ‘The Design Journey – how can the industry challenge the norm?’, and ‘Designing the future for recovery’. Until 28 February delegates can benefit from the ‘super early bird’ conference rates of £120 for those working in the private sector, and £75 for public sector employees (these include catering and access to the exhibition). To book, and for more information, visit www.designinmentalhealth.com James Lee, event director, said: “A good understanding of service users’ needs is the key to designing innovative, efficient, and cost-effective new mental healthcare facilities, and redeveloping and enhancing existing ones. The mental healthcare sector will come together at the event to discover how to drive up quality for more positive outcomes, with a clear focus on recovery.” One of the organisations already signed up for the accompanying exhibition is manufacturer of components such as vision panels, switchable glass, and antiligature products, the Kingsway Group (pictured is the company’ stand at Healthcare Estates 2012), whose sales manager, Julian Hall, said: “We feel the conference and exhibition will be an ideal opportunity to meet with current and future clients to discuss their requirements, and to showcase our mental healthcare expertise. We look forward to meeting mental healthcare project designers, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals, to discuss best practice.” Other organisations set to exhibit include Altro, Anti-Ligature Shop, BRE, Dart Valley Systems, FBS Contracts, Intastop, Knightsbridge Furniture, NJL Secure, P4, Pineapple Contracts, Primera Life, Renray Healthcare, Safehinge, Secure Furniture Solutions, Stanley Security Solutions, Wandsworth Group, and Vistamatic.
