Wandsworth Group demonstrated the latest developments to its Ethernet-based IPiN nurse call system at this year's Hefma annual event.
The company says IPiN was the first ever Ethernet-based nurse call system, and remains ‘the only nurse call system to be fully-TCP/IP based from source to bedhead’. Based ‘on the same TCP/IP technology used to develop most other healthcare technologies’, it reportedly offers easy integration with other systems, including DECT telephones, pagers, and patient entertainment packages. The latest addition to the IPiN nurse call ‘family’ is IPiN Everywhere; a wireless triway tracking system linked to the main IPiN network, that uses IR to provide lineof- sight signals, LF to monitor door entry and exit points, and RF to collate data for processing. IPiN Everywhere recognises unique user ID badges or tags worn by medical staff or patients. Medical staff can activate either a ‘panic’ or an emergency call button, enabling them to be quickly located, while vulnerable patients can wear an ID tag to enable staff to track their movements. Wandsworth will also unveil IPiN’s new widescreen touchscreen nurse station display.
