Cundall is a global, multi-disciplinary consultancy known for delivering sustainable engineering and integrated design solutions across the built environment. We operate across the UK and 29 locations globally with over 1200 consulting engineers and designers who act flexibly and agilely in response to local market conditions and practices. To meet the ever-increasing demands placed on the built environment, from building design standards to wider human requirements, we take a future proofing approach, engineering for the long term.
Since opening our first office in Newcastle in 1976, we have advocated innovative and environmentally responsible solutions around the globe. In 2023 we made our Zero Carbon Design 2030 commitment: by 2030, we will help our clients meet their zero carbon goals on all our projects by aligning with science-based targets. We have worked directly with private and public sector healthcare organisations across the globe as technical advisors and part of consortia under a variety of funding models.

Tessa Jowell Health Centre
This multidisciplinary new-build project provides a contemporary healthcare facility that offers a range of paediatric, physiotherapy, dialysis, mental health and long-term care services for patients, as well as non-clinical community services. Ulster Hospital
The redevelopment of the two hospital buildings addressed a significant need in the greater Belfast area, providing a 30,000m2 inpatient ward and a seven story acute service block. Our multidisciplinary team made full use of early engagement with the client to smoothly connect the redevelopment to the existing adjacent hospital block and thoroughly mock-up the bedroom designs. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Radionuclide Dispensary
This Scottish project replaces the former Western Infirmary, becoming the largest Radionuclide Dispensary facility in the UK. Using a circular economy approach that followed Zero Waste Scotland’s principles for designing out waste, the project achieved a whole life carbon benchmark of nearly 950 kgCO2e/m2. Grafton Life Sciences Centre
This project was delivered by our sustainability team, redeveloping a previously under-used shopping centre in Cambridge into a thriving new life sciences campus, complete with upgraded retail and hotel facilities. Extended stakeholder engagement allowed the team to create a bespoke sustainability strategy, matching ambitions as operator and developer, and aligning with emerging policies. London Institute for Healthcare Engineering (LIHE)
A new, state-of-the-art building dedicated to MedTech innovations, this multidisciplinary project sits on the bank of the River Thames and features open plan research areas in an office space style, complete with meeting rooms, communal areas and plant areas. The innovatively designed building is expected to be host pioneering start-ups and advance medical research in London.
