Static Systems’ Fusion-IP healthcare communication system was on show at HefmA 2013, along with ‘Fusion-Centra’ the company’s recently introduced fire alarm maintenance software.
Using ‘platform independent’ technology, together with ‘a major breakthrough in real-time location’, Fusion-IP offers ‘innovative healthcare communication apps which allow hospitals to pick and choose the facilities that will best enhance individual ward practices, while improving patient care and quality-of-life’. Recently introduced facilities such as ‘roaming patient call’, ‘patient fall monitoring’, ‘bed exit alert’, and ‘bed status monitoring’, were on show in Milton Keynes, along with ‘staff attack’ and ‘nurse presence’; which Static Systems says ‘achieve unrivalled accuracy through the use of ultrasound’.
The company adds: “These latest facilities augment comprehensive patient-to-nurse call offered with two-way speech (SIP) to the patient bedside, and IP integration with the site Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN).”
Another area of interest was the system’s ability to provide connectivity with the latest mobile devices, such as tablets and smart phones. Alarms, faults, and other events displayed on the system, are accessible from any device supporting a web browser, ‘bringing additional functionality and benefits for both medical staff and hospital engineers’.
Also on show was the company’s 900evo fire alarm maintenance software, developed to simplify and speed up testing on multi-panel sites. Centra uses wireless technology, allowing a single engineer to comprehensively test an entire system using a smart phone, tablet, or notebook PC. Sensors, ‘break glasses’, sounders, outstations, and other ancillary devices, can all be tested, with results and progress recorded in real time on the engineer’s hand-held device. To ensure full system integrity, dampers and other smoke control equipment can also be individually tested through the software, while, using web-based technology, all testing is recorded and logged centrally, allowing personnel with appropriate passcodes to retrieve project programming details, service, maintenance, and commissioning records, for analysis and review.
Static System says: “By collecting and storing this data, Fusion-Centra provides a comprehensive reporting facility to demonstrate compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Fusion-Centra also facilitates remote access, allowing authorised users to monitor the status of the alarm system, and interrogate individual devices to assess their condition. In an alarm situation progress of the fire can be viewed.” Remote access allows SSG’s technical support team to advise on-site teams, and provide guidance on fault rectification, without the need to attend site.
