Fire system maintenance ‘app’ unveiled

This year’s NAHFO Conference and Exhibition, held from 21-23 May at the Copthorne Merry Hill Hotel, Dudley, in the West Midlands, saw the introduction of advanced fire testing software by Static Systems Group.

‘Fusion-Centra’ uses wireless technology, which the company says allows a single engineer to comprehensively test an entire system using a smartphone, tablet, or notebook PC.

Sensors, break glasses, sounders, outstations, and other ancillary devices, can all be tested, with results and progress recorded in real time on the engineer’s hand-held device. To ensure full system integrity, dampers and other smoke control equipment can also be individually tested via the software. In addition, using ‘web-based technology’, all testing is recorded and logged centrally, allowing personnel with appropriate passcodes to retrieve project programming details, service, maintenance, and commissioning records, for analysis and review.

The company said: “By collecting and storing this data, Fusion-Centra provides a comprehensive reporting facility to demonstrate compliance with relevant standards and regulations.  Fusion-Centra also facilitates remote access. Authorised users can monitor the status of the alarm system, and interrogate individual devices to assess their condition. In an alarm situation, progress of a fire can be viewed.”
Remote access also allows SSG’s technical support team to advise on-site teams, and provide guidance on fault rectification without the need to attend site.

“Fusion-Centra provides an extremely effective method for comprehensive testing of the company’s 900evo fire alarm system”, added Phil Wade, SSG’s director of Fire Alarm Sales.
