Premier Interlink (Waco UK) has recently completed a £1.5 contract for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust in Stanmore, Middlesex, involving the construction of a new 13-bay Paediatric High Dependency Unit which interfaces efficiently with two adjacent buildings and infrastructure as a standalone facility, and incorporates all the amenities required to function efficiently and independently.
The modules for the building were constructed with concrete floors at Premier Interlink’s modern factory in East Yorkshire. The on-site construction of the two-storey, 13-bay building lasted 18 weeks, after which the new unit was handed over to the Trust. The brief was to provide a facility compliant with Good Industry Practice, NHS requirements, and all relevant statutory requirements.
The unit is equipped to a high standard, and every effort was taken to ensure it could be upgraded when required, keeping it operationally efficient for years to come. The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust installed artwork specific and appropriate to the age of the young patients to create a more comfortable, relaxing environment for patient recovery.
The facility provides accommodation for four patients at any given time, and includes an isolation room for specific observation and specialised treatment of patients.
