Certification body, NQA, will demonstrate how ISO 50001-certified energy management systems have been ‘proven to help energy-intensive organisations save hundreds of thousands of pounds, even before investing in energy-saving technologies’.
NQA has recently worked alongside coffee chain, Costa Coffee, helping it to achieve ISO 50001 certification, the international energy management systems standard, and, consequently, to make ‘significant cost and carbon savings’ throughout the business. NQA said: “By improving its operations, policies, and procedures, Costa reduced its carbon emissions by 32 per cent per tonne of coffee, resulting in a £50,000 annual saving on utilities at its principal roastery.” Ben Brakes, environment manager at Costa parent company, Whitbread, said: “Reducing our energy consumption has enabled us to expand our production capability without having to build a new site.”
