The chairman of IHEEM’s Ventilation Technical Platform, Richard Knight, CEng. MCIBSE, MIHEEM, has appealed for existing and new readers of HEJ and IHEEM members with a strong interest in healthcare ventilation to join.
Richard Knight, who also chairs the CIBSE Healthcare Group, and has a technical background in building services, maintenance, and capital project management, says: “The Platform’s mission is to improve the performance of healthcare building ventilation by increasing awareness among all building professionals, and supporting the implementation of relevant standards and legislation.” The Platform’s objectives are to:
• Help IHEEM members become aware of the building services systems for healthcare facilities.
• Encourage best practice in the deployment of existing technologies.
• Keep members aware of the latest developments in new technologies, and the development and use of sustainable methods of installing and operating healthcare ventilation systems.
• Keep IHEEM members aware of market conditions and Government initiatives related to healthcare.
• Provide authoritative, accurate, and independent, information.
• Influence policy, and respond to consultations.
• Encourage links with other institutions and organisations.
In the next year the group will hold several meetings; among topics proposed are: design, verification, validation, and the new BS EN standard for healthcare ventilation.
