Reading-based Kee Klamp Ltd is helping Swindon Health Centre meet the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) with a new tubular handrail system created using its specially developed 500 Series.
Fittings from this range have been used to construct a new guard and handrailing structure beside a crossing point for disabled visitors at the main entrance to the centre, ensuring safe and easy access for all visitors.
In meeting these requirements, this guardrailing structure at Swindon Health Centre provides good safety, guidance and accessibility for all users. The fittings can also be powder coated in a choice of RAL colours to meet the visibility and “not cold to the touch” requirements of the DDA. At Swindon Health Centre they are finished in a royal blue colour, ensuring an attractive appearance while benefiting the sightimpaired centre visitor. The 500 Range fittings were specified for the project by architects CMS Bath Ltd.
Incorporating a total of 12 new fittings, the 500 Series is supplied with versatility, ease and speed of installation in mind. Suitable for use in creating new structures, the range can also be used as a retrofit solution because it includes an offset fitting which allows a new handrail to be added onto an existing structure of appropriate size. When and where required, the 500 Series also can be augmented with fittings from the established Kee Klamp fittings range to create a complete, cost-effective answer to DDA requirements.
As well as its fittings range, Kee Klamp Ltd also provides tubular solutions for roof edge protection with its popular KeeGuard and Kee Dome systems, and for interior or exterior balustrading applications with its Keenect and Kee Lite systems.
