ADT Fire & Security has delivered an ‘intelligent’ fire detection and alarm system as part of a £15 million development of the new Mater Private Hospital in Cork, Ireland.
The company worked closely with Suir Engineering to design and install an effective and appropriate system, installing four MZX fire control panels, one TGX graphical user interface, one 64 zone Atheis public address voice alarm system, 4 Vesda aspirating smoke detection units, and a fire damper system. David Myers, regional MD, UK South and Ireland, said: “The system has dedicated modules to control and monitor the safe operation of the 280 site fire dampers. We offered a bespoke solution to damper control, and automatic control of every damper. Should a fire occur, our dampers will close automatically to stop smoke gases and fumes spreading. “The quality of our TGX GUI will enable the dampers to be closely monitored via visual displays, minimising man hours on site. Seamless integration of the damper and fire detection system means reduced maintenance costs for both systems.” Also installed is ADT’s MZX digital addressable fire alarm system with multisensor virtual detection. Its ‘cause and effect’ programming, in conjunction with ADT’s TSM 800 failsafe door control, ‘expertly isolate any fire by activating electronic fire doors to protect predetermined escape routes’.
