Nuclear engineer is aiming high

A nuclear engineer who, after undertaking his ‘O’ level education in the UK, moved to Canada, and, having completed the first year of an Aerospace Engineering Degree there, switched courses to successfully gain a Bachelor of Nuclear Engineering degree, has joined IHEEM as Member.

Since returning to the UK – he is currently employed as a senior engineer at Jacobs Engineering in Stockton-on- Tees – Sandeep Gopaul has worked on several de-contamination and de-commissioning projects.

In addition to completing five years of engineering study post Grade 13 (‘A level+1’) at universities in North America, his additional qualifications and experience include; international work experience within the nuclear and process industries, completion of an IChem Chemical Engineering for Scientists course, and successful participation in a ‘Managing Safety Course’ offered jointly by the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

He said: “I am looking forward to becoming a Fellow of IHEEM, and to attaining my Chartered Engineering Status with assistance from the Institute.”
