Construction Specialties (UK) is to supply and install a wall protection ‘package’ for Sweden’s New Karolinska Solna (NKS) Hospital in Stockholm.
In 2017 the completed 630-bed hospital, Sweden’s first such PPP facility, will be classified ‘gold’ under the Swedish ‘Environmental Building’ classification system, and is also targeting LEED ‘gold’ accreditation. The design and contracting teams are striving to achieve these environmental objectives via energy efficiency and careful construction material selection.
The chosen wall protection, C/S Acrovyn 4000 – to be fitted extensively in areas ranging from circulation corridors to bedrooms and day wards, is a ‘wellproven’, recyclable PVC-free system, free from potentially harmful chemicals such as persistent bioaccumulative toxins, Bisphenol A, and halogenated fireretardants, and thus ‘fits well’ with the project’s high environmental standards
