Raychem says that although recirculating water systems used to combat Legionella ‘provide an acceptable solution’ to hot water temperature maintenance, single pipe DHW systems are ‘the intelligent and safe way to supply instant hot water at the tap’.
Its HWAT single pipe direct hot water solution, with self-regulating heating cable technology, provides ‘a proven, creative, economical, and precise way of delivering constant hot water temperature throughout an entire network, without the need to recirculate’. Deadlegs are eradicated, and pipes traced to the pipe end, ‘meaning hot water delivery to every draw-off point’.
Raychem said: “There are no untraced pipes where water temperatures can drop to near 37°C – Legionella’s ‘ideal’ temperature. With no need for recirculating pipes, pipework networks are reduced in length, and space saved for other utilities or services, or installation of larger insulation on hot water pipework.
“With no need to re-heat the incoming ‘return’ water, boiler sizing can be recalculated, and often reduced.”
