Launched at last year’s show by Safehinge, which is again exhibiting, was a ‘revolutionary, safe door system’, Symphony, said to ‘resolve the conflict between Building Regulations requirements for a fire door to be selfclosing, and NHS Trusts’ need to eliminate ligature points by using a transom door closer fitted in the frame head’.
Safehinge said: “The closer brings controlled movement and self-closure to the door without presenting any ligature points – a first for the mental health sector. Anti-ligature, anti-barricade, and fire-rated, the system offers a number of additional benefits to increase safety and improve the lives of service-users and staff. These include increased patient confidentiality in bedrooms, and reduced sleep disruption for service-users due to an improved acoustic seal, which also minimises light leakage.”
