Tough vinyl lets designers get creative

A new range of ‘hard-wearing, homogeneous’ compact vinyl offers specifiers and architects ‘an unprecedented opportunity to be creative’, its manufacturer says. Tarkett’s Premium Collection features Eclipse Premium and Primo Premium, and, the company maintains, ‘combines best-in-class performance with an array of appealing designs’.

To create the Eclipse and Primo range, Tarkett says it studied the behaviour of users from all over the world – the result being ‘an exceptionally hard-wearing floor’ with a 20-year commercial warranty.

Premium is designed especially for heavy traffic zones where hygiene and slip resistance are critical, and is available in three non-directional patterns across 102 colours. Tarkett said: “Its flexibility allows it to meet the most demanding aesthetic and functional needs of any flooring design project in schools, hospitals, offices, retail environments, or public buildings. The range is available in both sheets and tiles. A special PUR reinforcement seals and hardens the surface to make it more resistant to dirt and daily wear and tear, as well as easier to clean and maintain. Multi-coloured welding rods are available ‘for perfect match finishing’.

The Premium Collection includes two ‘eco-innovations’ that contribute to the indoor environment and air quality. The vinyl is phthalate-free, and, Tarkett claims, ‘100 times lower in its VOC emissions than the strictest European standards’. The collection’s Primo SD product dissipates static, making it a useful solution in environments such as operating theatres, while Primo Acoustic provides a 17 dB sound reduction. Primo Safe.T is slip-resistant to the R10 standard.

Steve Urwin, Tarkett UK marketing manager, explained that the Premium Collection builds upon the company’s extensive offer in this demanding field: “It’s rare for project designers to have the kind of creative design flexibility that this collection offers at their fingertips,” he said. “They can mix and match its huge range of colours and patterns with its functional and environmental properties to create an attractive, bespoke solution for any project. The Premium Collection is the largest homogeneous vinyl flooring offer in non-directional patterns currently available, and we think it’s the best-in-class.”
