Interfurn Medical Systems was recently appointed to design, supply, and install, two ‘skirtless’ ultraclean ventilation canopies at Manchester Royal Infirmary as part of a new hybrid theatre suite situated within the Infirmary’s Elective Treatment Centre.
The new suite is expected to transform the care and treatment of patients undergoing minimally invasive procedures.
Interfurn says it was ‘delighted to be selected as a sub-contractor on the project’. It adds: “Many years’ experience in the design, manufacture, and installation, of ventilation solutions for healthcare facilities meant we were well equipped to advise, and to install state-of-the-art equipment incorporating the latest technologies. This included two Telstar UCV canopies integrated with Siemens Artis zeego C-arm scanning equipment, and Maquet pendants.”
Interfurn’s services included:
• A feasibility study, design, and coordination.
• Project management.
• Installation and commissioning of equipment.
• Testing and validation of the ultraclean canopies to HTM 03-01 criteria.
The project was completed in June 2014, on time, and within budget.
Interfurn added: “The hybrid operating suite provides Manchester Royal Infirmary with a dedicated facility, offering not only better facilities for existing surgical techniques, but also enabling new, innovative techniques and treatments to be carried out. The facility is believed to be the UK’s first of its kind, and one of only a handful internationally to offer similar features and capabilities.”
