Compass Group UK & Ireland says it is ‘continuing to champion innovation in health and wellbeing’, with the publication of its 2020 Health and Wellbeing Strategy, which outlines a number of ‘forward-thinking pledges’ that the company says demonstrate its dedication to help ‘feed change and fight obesity’ – divided into three key areas – Healthier Food, Healthier Lives, and Healthier Futures.
The pledges will see the UK’s largest foodservice provider further reduce calories, fat, and salt, from its food, and drive increased consumption of fruit and vegetables. The business will also look to establish its own foundation – to help fund research in this area.
The company said: “Within these pledges, there are quantifiable commitments which will enable us to measure our progress, including serving two million extra portions of fruit and vegetables each year, cutting out added salt from recipes, and removing 50 million more calories from meals.”
Across the UK & Ireland, Compass operations span approximately 10,000 sites, including hospitals, workplaces, sports and leisure venues, schools, hospitals, oil rigs, and remote locations. Compass Group UK & Ireland employs over 60,000 staff.
