Bespoke ward completed in nine weeks by MTX

MTX has recently completed a new bespoke modular ward at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, in just nine weeks from delivery to site of the 24 building modules.

The company received the instruction to proceed on 1 August last year, with substructure and enabling works commencing a month later. The building installation took place on 4 October, with all the modules installed over a 24-hour period. The building was handed over on 5 December 2014, with both the internal and external fit-out fully completed.

The new facility provides the Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust with 28 additional ward bed spaces and a procedures room, both occupied within a few days of MTX’s handover. The new building was finished to a very high standard both internally and externally and, MTX says, benefits from a design life equivalent to a traditional construction solution.

David Hartley, MTX’s commercial director, said: “This project is one of a number that we have successfully completed for this particular client, and has proven a huge success. The client, project design, and delivery team, should take great credit for what has been achieved in such a short time period, and to such a high standard.”
