When Brent Council in Greater London sought to fit out an extra care home in Wembley with suitable flooring, the residents’ comfort and safety topped the specification criteria.
The project required some 400 m2 of new flooring throughout en suites, shower rooms, and assisted bathrooms.
Chelmsford based flooring contractor, Chelmer Group, selected Gerflor’s Tarasafe Ultra H²O vinyl safety flooring, described as ‘the ultimate choice for wet and dry environments, barefoot, and shod applications’. Gerflor said: “Tarasafe Ultra H²O is ideal for shower and changing rooms, and any high-level risk wet areas requiring heavy duty slip-resistant flooring. It provides exceptional barefoot comfort.”
The safety flooring scores ‘the best possible safety rating’ in the wet barefoot ramp test (DIN 51097), and wet shod test (DIN 51130). Designed with a raised emboss, it comes ‘in eight stunning colours’, while its light weight means fitters have ‘up to five times more blade life than before’.
Registering a Grade C in the barefoot ramp test, Tarasafe vinyl sheet flooring is deeply inlaid with mineral crystal particles plus coloured chips, and reinforced with a glass fibre grid for durability. It is also R11 slip-resistant.
