The 2015 Design in Mental Health (DIMH) Conference, Exhibition & Dinner takes place this month at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull.
Among the themes of this year’s conference – which will see stakeholders ranging from architects and clinicians to service-users presenting – will be the key role that good design plays in recovery, and the most effective ways that estates departments can work with service-users to improve the environment in mental healthcare facilities. The event, which takes place from 19-20 May, will also see the unveiling of the ‘Better Bedroom 2’. HEJ editor, Jonathan Baillie, reports.
Presenting ‘the latest service user-led design thinking’, the two-day DIMH 2015 conference will focus on the optimal strategies for developing safe, secure therapeutic environments that meet both service-user and staff needs. Alongside academic research and expert opinion, the presentations will include plenty of first-hand service-user testimony.
The organisers say: “With a full two-day conference programme, over 50 exhibitors showcasing hundreds of innovative products, and a dinner and awards ceremony (at the NMM on the evening of 19 May), this year’s event promises a compelling two days for those actively driving innovation in mental healthcare environments.”
