Experience and knowledge on tap

Earlier this year, Brookfield Multiplex handed over the new South Glasgow Hospitals project to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Horne Engineering, designer, developer, and manufacturer, of TMVs, shower valves, and the Building Better Healthcare awardwinning Optitherm tap, is ‘proud to have played a relatively small part in the development of the two hospitals’.

Since 2012 Horne has supplied 2,558 Optitherm thermostatic taps for all clinical and surgical handwash facilities, and 1,313 specialised shower panels for patient use.

In consultation with its NHS client, the Brookfield Multiplex project team and M&E sub-contractor, Mercury Engineering, selected the Horne products for their robust design and manufacture; ease of installation, cleaning, and maintenance; specialised infection control features, and Horne’s ability to make special adaptations for compatibility with the pipe and panelling systems used on site.

In the few remaining days before patient admissions begin, Horne continues working closely with the Estates and Infection Prevention teams – ‘providing technical advice and product training to ensure operational longevity and optimise infection control features for long-term healthcare delivery and cost benefit’.
