The Legionella Control Association (LCA) claims to be ‘the UK’s leading membership organisation for companies that provide services and products for the control of Legionella bacteria in water systems’.
The Association’s purpose is ‘to continually raise industry standards and thus make an important contribution to keeping water systems safe’.
The LCA Recommended Code of Conduct requires the Association’s 330 members to draw up a Statement of Compliance addressing nine Service Provider Commitments, and to ‘establish and maintain appropriate management systems’ for those services they offer associated with the control of Legionella. Members are audited regularly by LCA assessors.
The LCA is a voluntary, independent, not-for-profit organisation, with close links with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and other public health authorities. It regularly participates in consultations, task groups, and conferences, concerned with minimising the risk of Legionella and Legionnaires’ disease.
