A centralised view to aid compliance across the estate

Estates managers responsible for ensuring that healthcare centres comply with current fire safety regulations can now have a centralised view of all incidents – including unwanted alarms – and the status of all fire detection and alarm systems, even across multi-location sites.

Drax Technology says its AMX software and SMaRT interfaces enable the monitoring of every event, activation, and operator action, showing alarm history, checking the status of every
connected device, and recording in detail the causes of the event. The software also allows users to verify operator response times, and that key checks and routine maintenance have been carried out.

Keith Minster, product manager, said: “Most estates managers outsource testing and maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems, but could still be held responsible for faulty equipment. However, until now they have had to rely on the honesty of their chosen provider – who must in turn trust that all their engineers have done what they say they have done. Hospitals’ evolution over the years, and changing procurement policies, have led to numerous different systems, all needing different maintenance and parts. Typically testing records are paper-based, with little uniformity, and no permanent record of events and subsequent action. Drax Technology software is compatible with all leading fire alarm control panels, and will address these challenges.”
