OCS wins Runcorn contract

OCS Integrated Services Healthcare has won a five-year contract to supply a range of services to one the UK’s latest independently run NHS orthopaedic and joint replacement treatment centres at Runcorn in Cheshire, covering technical and engineering support, security, cleaning and laundry, portering and catering.

With four operating theatres, 44 beds, diagnostic and physiotherapy suites and a target of 5,000 operating procedures every year, the new independently run NHS treatment centre, operated by Interhealth Care Services (UK) Ltd on behalf of Cheshire and Merseyside PCTs, will demand professional and reliable 24/7 support.

OCS Integrated Services Healthcare will be providing a comprehensive mix of essential services, managed through a single point of contact, all coordinated by an on-site help desk. As well as patient catering services, a Just Deli café will be located in the main reception area for staff and visitors, as well as a vending service.

A team of engineers will provide the expertise to ensure the smooth running of the building. Twenty-four hour security and portering, together with cleaning and laundry services will ensure a safe and pleasant environment for patients, staff and visitors.

The new Cheshire and Merseyside NHS Treatment Centre is located at Halton General Hospital and was one phase of a number of independent sector facilities announced by Health Minister John Hutton last year across Worcestershire, Merseyside and Burton-upon-Trent.
