Providing appropriate, up-to-date training for healthcare engineering and healthcare estates personnel so that, should the need arise, they can effectively address some of the most common risks likely to face their hospital or other healthcare facility, and indeed cope effectively in the event of a ‘natural disaster’ such as fire or flood, should, in my view, be a given. In this article I will look at some of the areas where good training can make a considerable difference in enabling an effective response, and indeed to keeping staff, patients, and visitors safe, and ensuring uninterrupted care.
