With the company’s launch of the Polaris 600 operating theatre light, for the first time ever a Dräger light can now be operated both via touch operation by non-sterile personnel, and by the surgeon.
The light field diameter and light intensity can be adjusted directly via the sterile handle using Sterile Touch Control. The handle’s upper section has a surface which reacts to touch; a double-click changes the light field diameter ‘stepwise’ from 19 to 27 cms. Swiping the thumb sideways increases or reduces the light intensity.
Dräger said: “In addition, all connected Polaris lights can be synchronised via the light control panel and the wall panel. A light tap and the connected Polaris lights synchronise and operate with the same light intensity and colour temperature.”
The Polaris 600 has a flat, lightweight light body with a diameter of 62 cms, ‘which enables smooth positioning, and does not impair the laminar flow’. The HD camera is fitted under the light glass, meaning just one smooth surface has to be cleaned.
The Polaris 600 produces ‘an almost shadowless and homogeneous light field’. Colour temperature is adjustable to suit tissue structure or surgical preference. Illumination intensity can be regulated between 20,000 and 160,000 lux.
