Following the IFHE Council meeting held in Turku, Finland, last June, it was agreed that a Library Award be instigated to promote the use of the Technical Library held by the Federation, and the first in this series of awards were presented at the IFHE’s 24th Congress in The Hague last month.
The Library is a ‘web’-based collection of articles from IFHE member organisations written in their own language, but with an English synopsis, intended as a pool of valuable knowledge able to be shared around the world.
Francisco Castella, who is responsible for the Library, and was the prime mover for the award, issued a challenge to all member countries to provide articles from national journals, conferences, and technical meetings etc., to compete for the inaugural award at the IFHE Congress.
The winner and two runners-up received award salvers, alongside certificates, which were also presented to the three ‘Highly Commended’ entries, during a ceremony held during the Congress, which took place from 18-19 April at the World Forum in The Hague.
