Needing a ‘smart, efficient way to manage patient care and improve clinical response times during the night’, Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has selected Hospedia’s ExtraMed Mobile Medic solution to replace traditional phone, pager, and paper-based systems.
With an integrated solution that ‘is making it easy for staff to share information in real-time, and helping them improve the care provided to patients’.
Neil Radford, the Trust’s head of Operations, said: “The system has been easy to implement, and our hospital out-of-hours team have adapted very quickly. It has benefited our ward staff – who find the referral process quick and easy, and improved our audit trail.”
Mobile Medic has been configured to support the Trust’s Hospital at Night and Out of Hours working model, and has immediately improved clinical staff capacity. Using an ‘intelligent escalation’ process, it sends an alert to an available clinician on their smart device, advising them that they are needed on a particular ward, no matter where they are.
The Trust already uses Hospedia’s ExtraMed patient flow solution, and Mobile Medic has been fully integrated with this; it comprises three key elements – Call Request, Call Allocation, and Call Management.
