Recessed shower ‘lowers risk’

Delabie’s new single-lever Securitherm recessed shower mixer is designed to reduce the water volume in the mechanism.

Fewer components are in contact with water, and the mixer does not require nonreturn valves on the inlets, ‘considerably reducing the risk of bacterial development’. The sequential mixer features a long, ergonomic lever, ‘ideal for people with reduced mobility’. The same lateral movement opens the flow and adjusts temperature, and the mixer opens and closes with cold, potable water for increased safety.

Delabie said: “Securitherm thermostatic technology delivers a stable temperature regardless of pressure and flow rate changes. A maximum temperature limiter, set at 39˚C, reduces scalding risk, while as a failsafe, should the cold water supply fail, the hot water shuts off instantly. Should the hot water supply fail, the cold water also shuts off, avoiding the risk of cold showers. The mechanism also withstands thermal shocks.”

Securitherm recessed showers are housed in a waterproof box which prevents water ingress, with a small vent where condensation or leaks can drain away. The housing can be installed quickly, and finishing depth is adjustable. Connectors and stopcocks are included.

The mechanism assembly is integrated in an interchangeable cartridge accessible without having to remove the mixer. The new shower mixer can be installed with a fixed, round shower head, or a shower kit with riser rail, flexible shower hose, and shower head.
