Helping prepare for deregulation

In the five years following Scottish water deregulation, businesses spent £65 m less on water consumption (source Edie.net) and, from next April, 1.2 m organisations in England and Wales will similarly be able to choose the supplier of their water and waste water retail services.

However, believing many businesses have not yet developed a strategy to benefit, Minimise Water has developed a four-step best practice approach which it says will:

  • Provide a detailed understanding of current water use.
  •  Develop and implement a comprehensive water management strategy to deliver future savings, efficiencies, and compliance
  • 'Assist with the selection of the best water supplier’.

The company said: “The fourth key element – our bill validation and water audit service – will give users a thorough overview of estate-wide water usage and waste water outputs, billing anomalies, missing or overpayments, potential leakages and areas for improvement, current water costs, and pricing.”

Minimise Water can also provide ‘end-toend support’ for tender negotiation, procurement, and transition, while its ‘Comply, Source, Reduce’ methodology will help businesses ‘create a robust water strategy to ensure compliance with waterrelated health legislation’.
