MTX designs Endoscopy Unit for George Eliot Hospital

May this year saw MTX Contracts awarded the contract to design, construct, and commission, a new single-storey Endoscopy Unit for the George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton.

An acute healthcare facility, the hospital is part of the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, which provides hospital and community-based services to over 300,000 people across Warwickshire and South West Leicestershire.

MTX will build the new Endoscopy Unit using modular techniques to provide a compliant decontamination facility for endoscopes. The modules will be lifted in and positioned via individual mobile cranes over a three-day period under a carefully planned schedule.

Internally, the hygienic area walls will be constructed with a pre-finished steel product specifically formulated to help maintain a clean, safe environment. The floorcoverings comprise Polyflor vinyl sheeting, with an epoxy resin finish to plant rooms.

The HVAC plant will be situated externally, adjacent to the new modular building, which will be externally finished with a plastisol-bonded plywood in Wedgewood blue, with black rainwater guttering and pipes.

MTX said: “Our previous knowledge of, and experience with, Endoscopy Units – we have previously completed a successful Endoscopy Unit at Bradford Royal Infirmary – assisted in our design process for this project.”
