Brandon Medical describes its new screenless ‘complanate’ ultraclean ventilation system, Mediclean, as ‘truly unique, offering a vast improvement to patient safety and surgical outcomes’.
The company said: “Complanate, meaning ‘made level’, refers to the system’s flat appearance; it fits completely flush to the operating theatre ceiling without the need for air deflectors or side screens. This makes it much easier to position operating lights, medical pendants, and imaging machines, due to the lack of obstruction.”
Said to be a ‘first of its kind in the UK’, the Mediclean UCV uses unique air curtain technology to constrain the air in the clean zone and separate it from the surrounding ‘dirty’ air. It offers a patented continuous particle monitor (CPM) system which accurately measures airborne particles during surgery, and displays the results via simple visual alarms.
When particles are detected, the system increases the air flow to flush away the contaminated air. Brandon said: “Available as a standalone system or an optional feature, CPM helps keep patients and surgical staff safe. Mediclean CPM is the world’s first system that allows staff to ‘see’ how clean the air is during surgery.”
