Remote monitoring system for hard-to-reach places

Undertaking ACoP L8 tests on hardto-reach temperature points can be costly and problematic for engineers equipped only with conventional temperature probes, leading a number of hospitals to switch to remote monitoring.

Where there is easy access to taps and pipes, testing regimes are generally straightforward, but monitoring water tanks and calorifier pipes, often located at height, requires the use of ladders, with all the associated health and safety issues.

So says UK thermometer manufacturer, TM Electronics, whose TC Wall Port system facilitates temperature recording of hard-to-reach points quickly and easily without any climbing involved. A wired thermocouple sensor – available in lengths from 1-20 metres – is permanently attached to each test point, and run to a wall-mounted connection port. Temperatures are taken by simply plugging a hand-held thermometer into the port – delivering stable results with no loss of accuracy. Several ports can be mounted together in one location, allowing multiple measurements to be taken quickly and safely from one position. A choice of sensors is available
