Brandon Medical has supplied ‘state-of-the-art’ medical control and power products to a new Endoscopy Unit at Nuneaton’s George Eliot Hospital.
The electrical system installed comprises a Medipower Medical IT system incorporating two triple panel configuration systems which provide a safe power supply to patient areas, and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system, which uses a CANbus interface panel that enables devices to communicate with each other without a host computer. The network connects the UPS alarms with the Medical IT remote alarms, allowing each room to have a remote alarm. The BMTi 5 remote alarms communicate operational status and any error messages from the power supply to clinical users.
Brandon also supplied an advanced 40 kVA UPS Multi Sentry unit, designed to protect critical services including telecommunications, networks, and processes, from disruption caused by mains power supply problems. A dual input External Maintenance Bypass Panel provides ‘total safe isolation for UPS maintenance’, while alongside the UPS, a local Delta Zig Zag isolation transformer provides neutral generation at the UPS unit.
Each endoscopy room is dual fed from two Medical IT transformers supplied from the same input phase, delivering power at useable voltages and preventing dangerous 400V potentials.
