‘Intelligent’ taps cut consumption

The requirement to eliminate the spread of bacteria through healthcare environments can, Conti + UK maintains, ‘be significantly aided with the introduction of touch-free products’, but, it adds, “the benefits of ‘intelligent’ taps only just begin with hygiene and convenience”.

The company said: “Thanks to their non-contact function, water will only run when it is required, saving as much as 70% on consumption. This, in turn, means running costs for water and energy can be significantly reduced. By choosing the optional solar module or the turbine on Ultra from Conti +, it is also possible to achieve a battery life of up to eight years. To counter the problems of stagnant water in pipework – and depending on the model – hygienic rinsing can be initiated at use-dependent intervals, or at freely definable periods when not in use.” The Service-Monitor can activate a freely adjustable period of water flow lasting up to 20 minutes, and operating data stored in the tap can be read out and evaluated. For convenience, the setting and control of functions can be carried out from a PC.

Where hand hygiene is particularly important, the ‘expert version’ includes an integrated hygiene mode with countdown.
