Work has now started on a new £16.4 millon staff accommodation block for ‘key workers’ at the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby (see artist’s impression).
Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust said: “Key workers are hard-to-recruit staff including doctors and nurses. The block will comprise 96 student units and 124 studio apartments. The current residential accommodation at the Grimsby site is in need of significant upgrading in order for it to be of a high enough standard to attract new staff. Staff feedback and surveys have shown that the provision of quality staff accommodation is a major recruitment and retention issue at the Trust.”
Director of estates and facilities, Jug Johal, said: “This is a much-needed development, as the current accommodation is in poor condition, and for the Trust to recruit and retain medical staff, new modern accommodation is vital.”
Completion of the new accommodation is expected in late 2018, with staff moving in early in 2019.
