Robust portable power source for mobile equipment

The new PowerCentre of Merlin Equipment is designed to provide a portable power source for mobile equipment. The unit has a 40 ampere hour advanced lithium-ion battery and is claimed to be capable of recharging and operating equipment on site “for hours, or even days.”

The PowerCentre is housed in an industry-standard Peli Case to offer full protection from knocks, abrasion, dust and water. Merlin claims that a vehicle could drive over the unit without causing lasting damage. The PowerCentre can be left locked and closed outside for several days without sustaining damage from inclement weather.

For ease of use, the PowerCentre features a built in battery monitor, which during operation, charging and discharging, will display battery strength. A built in microprocessor control also provides error codes in the event of overloading or overcharging.

The unit can be recharged from any 230V AC power source, a 12V vehicle or through an optional solar charger. It is capable of providing up to 30A maximum at 12V DC and surge currents of up to 80A.
