Mobile access to patient monitoring via partnership agreement

Ascom, a ‘global healthcare ICT and mobile workflow solutions provider’, and medical and safety technology specialist, Dräger, are to partner to integrate Ascom’s Unite clinical messaging platform and Dräger’s patient monitoring systems.

Ascom elaborated: “The Ascom Unite system extends the reach of patient status alarms generated by Dräger vital signs monitors and therapy devices integrated with them. It distributes clinical alert notifications and critical data and related contextual information to mobile devices carried by care team members, who may not be with the patient needing assistance at the time. The system directs alerts only to those responsible for the care of the patients requiring clinical intervention. Reducing the number of audible alerts and pages broadcast to all helps alleviate the alarm fatigue experienced in high-volume, high acuity care areas. “

“Intelligent alarm filtering further minimises care providers’ exposure to low-priority, routine alerts that might contribute to bottlenecks and inefficiencies. Patients benefit from quicker responses, more focused care, and quieter healing environments.”

The joint solution will be made available in markets served by Ascom and Dräger subject to necessary approvals.
