‘Having started with an empty shell’, the team at Fortius Group developed the design of a new orthopaedic surgical centre in London’s Marylebone.
Alec Peachey, editor of HEJ’s sister magazine, The Clinical Services Journal, reports on how, ‘having started with an empty shell’, the team at Fortius Group, a leading private orthopaedic and sports injury group, developed the design of a new orthopaedic surgical centre in London’s Marylebone, with the process including close collaboration between surgeons and the key equipment suppliers.
When you first enter Fortius’s orthopaedic surgical centre the first thing that strikes you is a feeling of quality. Perhaps given the newness of this facility, which can be found in the heart of Marylebone, it is an obvious thing to state. But when you hear about the challenges overcome to get the centre up and running, it is quite an achievement.
The 12,500 square foot facility includes three operating theatres, two with laminar flow, a dedicated anaesthetic room, and a five-bed recovery area. The ward comprises five private en-suite rooms, and seven day case pods.
