Bathroom pod manufacturer, Offsite Solutions, has been awarded the contract to supply bathroom pods for the new £69 m East Lothian Community Hospital.
Morrison Construction, part of Galliford Try, is principal contractor for the 22,000 m2, purpose-built community hospital in Haddington, appointed by Hub South East Scotland on behalf of NHS Lothian. When completed, the new facility will increase inpatient beds by around 60 per cent to enhance the quality of care for the people of East Lothian.
Offsite Solutions will provide 134 factorybuilt bathroom pods, supplied without floors to allow for continuous level flooring throughout the wards, and avoid the need for thresholds to make the bathrooms fully accessible.
Designed to meet HTM requirements, each 2.6 m x 2.2 m pod will easily accommodate a patient and a carer, with a wider pre-prepared aperture for two door leaves for easy access. The washbasins, toilets, and showers, will be pre-installed at Offsite Solutions’ Somerset factory, with the easy-to-clean, hygienic walls finished in white, with a feature wall from a range of colours.
