Designing state-of-the-art surgical skills training centres has become a speciality for Leeds-based Brandon Medical; the company has recently equipped two new ‘state-of-the-art’ surgical skills training centres at the University of Keele (pictured), and at the Smith & Nephew Expert Connect Centre near York, which specialises in orthopaedics training.
Brandon’s supply of specialist equipment to these two training facilities follows successful similarly completed schemes at sites including the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire, the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle, Liverpool University, and London’s Royal College of Surgeons.
Both the latest installations included the company’s ‘flagship’ product, ‘Quasar eLite’ operating theatre lights, fully integrated with HD surgical camera systems. Ceiling-mounted Atlas pendants, designed and manufactured by Brandon Medical, were also installed in both cases. The ‘unique’ pendant has ‘unlimited movement’, and ‘offers up to 50% more space within the operating theatre, creating a comfortable and practical environment for both patient and surgeon’.
Following the upgrade at Keele University, the surgical training centre has doubled its capacity. Smith & Nephew, meanwhile ‘continues to expand the number of, and train, world-class surgeons with the help of Brandon Medical’s equipment’. The global medical healthcare support company now has 12 fully equipped ‘stations’, along with an additional two arthroscopy stations, at its Expert Connect Centre near York, all featuring Brandon Medical products.
